Mingalaba (hello in burmees; Myanmar) family and friend,.

HAPPY (belated) CHRISTMAS and NEW YEAR!!!

We have been living in Yangon (capital of Myanmar) for 1,5 week. This was a bit more challenging for me. Myanmar is more traditional and cultural. Thailand is more westernized and more modern.
So I had to adjust a little bit, but it is a beautiful country.

The Myanmar people are so nice and so kind! Here they get so excited when they see you. When you say 'Mingalaba' or even smile towards them, the biggest smiles comes up and you light up their day. They wave to you and even want to take pictures with you.
And this is because they just opened up to the western world, 6-7 years ago. So they don't see a lot of different people and cultures.

Here when you give something towards another person, you put your left hand underneath your right elbow, and than hand it over. Very polite and friendly.
Than you say kjei au tin bade and it sounds like Justin Timberlake , haha.

We have done different things like help packing Christmas packages for families in villages outside of the city. We went to an orphanages were we played games, danced and sang.

We also went downtown and to a park to talk to local people and have conversations with them. Some of them spoke English and some of them don't. So it was hard sometimes.

After Yangon we went to Mawlamyine with the bus. It was a six hour drive. Here we arrived at a cute farm of an amazing family from Australia. Here we spend two weeks.
We celebrated Christmas with the team and New Years the family joined us. It was very nice but I missed all of you too in those days but we had a lot of good food and fun!
I was even able to skype audio call my parents, so that was great!
And the first thing we did after New Year's was climbing a mountain. This was pretty intense for me though, haha! But the view was AMAZINGLY beautiful!!

We worked with children, helped painting a pre-school and talked to local people. I really want to share more about what happened personal to you, very soon! In 6 weeks I'll be home again! In 6 weeks isn't that crazy. Now time flies by really fast...!

Last Thursday we arrived after a long time of traveling in Cambodia! I will tell more about my adventures here very soon.

I want to thank you all for your prayers for me. I am thankful for being here and having this opportunity to serve other people and discover new cultures. I haven't been sick, so I am very grateful for that too! So thank you for praying and interceding for me!

BIG hugg and love you all a lot!
